Virginia drivers will soon notice a brand-new design on their state inspection stickers—a change aimed at preventing counterfeits and improving security.
The redesigned sticker is bright green and features a holographic seal along with images of the dogwood, Virginia’s state tree. It also includes two unique codes:
- A larger code that directs to the Virginia State Police Safety Division webpage.
- A smaller internal-use code for added security.
To make expiration dates clearer, the expiration month is displayed on a white background, while the expiration year appears over the dogwood image.
Lt. Col. Matthew Hanley of the Virginia State Police told WDBJ-7 in Roanoke:
“We want Virginians to have confidence that when they see an inspection sticker on a vehicle, the vehicle has been truly inspected by a qualified professional and is safe to be on the road.”
